AND SPECIES COUNTDOWN

Eugenia Thompson and Gail Russell, Meeting Planners
90 Registered Participants

Black-and-white WarblerThe fall Statesboro meeting featured birding in Bulloch County, the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal State Historical Site and coverage of Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. The Bulloch County field trip provided exposure to the sod farms directly south of the campus of Georgia Southern University. The Center for Wildlife Education and Lamar Q. Ball Raptor Center staff provided a program with live birds and other critters on Friday night and a squirrel hunt with Harris Hawks on Saturday morning. Also on Friday night, Scott Somershoe provided information about his interesting research concerning stopover migrants at the Savannah NWR. The Saturday evening program was presented by Chan Robbins describing his recent trip to Antarctica. Many meeting participants had the enjoyable opportunity to bird and talk with Robbins on the fieldtrips.
