Summary of Sept. 30, 1994 Georgia Rare Bird Alert, from the Georgia Ornithological Society:
Sept 29 near the Richard Russell Bldg in downtown Atlanta have been 3 Peregrine Falcons, best seen in late afternoon. Philadelphia Vireos have been seen several times this week at both Kennesaw Mt. and Cochran Shoals near Atlanta. Sept 28 there was one Clay-colored Sparrow at east beach of St Simons (3 were there on the 26th). There were also 2 Marbled Godwits, 1-2 Reddish Egrets, and a Great Black-backed Gull. At south beach of Jekyll there were 6 Piping Plovers and a Lesser Black-backed Gull. Last weekend there were American Golden Plovers and Buff-breasted Sandpipers at the sod farm in Peach county. Sept 26, two Clay-colored Sparrows were banded at Butler I., Altamaha WMA.
