A low pressure system pushed some birds inland this week. On 5/24 an Arctic Tern
was seen on Cumberland Island. A dead Sooty Shearwater was found there as well.
Storm Petrels were seen over Cumberland Sound, some Wilson's but some
unidentified.

The Red-necked Phalarope and Braid's Sandpiper seen in Bartow were not
relocated.

The Pacific Loon at Lake Russell appears to have left as well.
The Connecticut Warbler at Henderson Park has not been seen recently. A
Connecticut Warbler was seen however at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta on
5/28.

The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher continues in McDonough as of 5/28.

Golden-crowned Kinglet, Least Flycatcher and Red-breasted Nuthatches were seen
along Hale Ridge Road in NE Georgia on 5/25. Swainson's Warblers were seen on
Burrell's Ford Road. Red Crossbills were seen at the home of Mr. Kilby.

Two new birds were reported 5/22 from Atlanta. They were in the area of Custer
Ave between Boulevard and Moreland near the 'Spillway 2' sign in a mowed grassy
area near the City of Atlanta Bleach plant on Custer. The second bird was heard
near the entrance to the nearby landfill but access to the landfill itself was
not allowed.

Two Bank Swallows as well as several other species of swallow, Dickcissel,
Grasshopper Sparrow and an American Kestrel were seen on the Brandon Farm Rd/Taff
Road loop.

Brasstown Bald is a good place to bird this time of year to see some of the high
elevation nesters. Common Ravens have been seen here as well.

Brasstown Bald is one place to look for high elevation birds that are normally
only seen in passing during migration. Veeries, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and

At Henderson Park on 5/13, 2 Connecticut Warblers and a Gray-cheeked Thrush were

A Red-breasted Merganser was found at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds near
Hiawasee on 5/12. A Merlin previously reported from the area was not relocated.

A Willow Flycatcher has returned to Blairsville. This is one of the few
consistant places in Georgia to find this species.
