This young eagle was photographed by
Giff Beaton as it soared over Kennesaw Mt. in late September, 1997. Note
that this individual displays some of the characteristics normally associated
with Golden Eagles, including the well-defined white tail band and pale
primary bases. The large, pale head and plank-like profile of the wings
(more noticeable in the second and third photos), however, identify this
individual as an immature Bald Eagle, most likely a Basic II or III. Return to Species Account Menu
