This young eagle was photographed by Giff Beaton as it soared over Kennesaw Mt. in late September, 1997.  Note that this individual displays some of the characteristics normally associated with Golden Eagles, including the well-defined white tail band and pale primary bases.  The large, pale head and plank-like profile of the wings (more noticeable in the second and third photos), however, identify this individual as an immature Bald Eagle, most likely a Basic II or III.
