First reported by Carol Lambert on 13 August 2003 at the EL Huie ponds, this bird represents the second local record and one of very few inland records for the state. (In Georgia, this is mainly a coastal species.)  According to the Annotated Checklist of Georgia Birds [Beaton, et. al., 2003], this represents only the second record for the Georgia Piedmont.

The bird remained at the ponds for several days, at least through 19 August 2003.
