This Ash-throated Flycatcher was discovered by Zaroga Goff on family property near Newton, Baker Co., in mid-February, 2008, and represents just the third documented report of this species for Georgia.  (Note, however, that there have been other reports of this species as well as winter reports of Myiarchus sp. that were likely this species.)

Silent Myiarchus flycatchers (or those vocalizing variations of their songs and calls) can be quite challenging to separate outside of their normal range.  This bird's overall pale gray throat and breast, creamy yellow belly and distinctive undertail pattern (observable in Pierre Howard's photographs) help separate this species from its congeners.

The photos to the left were taken on 18 Feb 2008.
