This bird was originally reported by Ted Seckinger at 9:00 am on Thursday, 4 May 2000.  The bird was spotted south of McDonough, GA, along King Mill Rd., and Ted reported that there may have been two Scissor-tails here.  It was observed at various locations along King Mill Rd. just east of US23/GA42, and was also observed constructing a nest in the arm of a power distribution structure when subsequently observed by Earl Horn.

Scissor-tailed Flycatchers are listed as "Accidental to rare visitor over most of state, 11 Oct (1962) - 30 Jun (1966)" in the Annotated Checklist of Georgia Birds (1986), but since the Checklists publication, Scissor-tails have been observed outside of those dates on several occasions, including several nesting records.

As the season wore on, many observers reported that this pair of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers had raised three young.
