This bird was first found and identified by the homeowners, Al and Susan Lamden on Friday, 21 January 2005 on Skidaway Island. They called Wild Birds Unlimited to verify the identification, because they could tell from their field guide that it was a species that wasn't supposed to be here. Diana Churchill fielded their inquiry but couldn't leave the store to see the bird herself, so she called Matt and I and asked us to drive over and verify the sighting. We have no telephoto lens, so we enlisted Pat Wolters to get photo documentation of the bird.  As you can see, good photos were to be had!
