On the morning of 5 May 2007, I flushed a Henslow's Sparrow in the marsh at the Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve, Decatur, DeKalb County. It flew to a nearby river birch and perched up like a flushed Henslow's often does. The late date for the piedmont according to the Annotated Checklist of Georgia Birds (GOS 2003) is April 24th. This is my first sighting of this species in DeKalb County and the first for the preserve, but not for DeKalb County. In his Georgia Birds (1958), Thomas Burleigh cites a record from Constitution in Dekalb County in 1948. I don't know of any more recent records.
