On Sat., 2-18-06, this female Baltimore Oriole showed up in our yard in Stone Mountain around 12:30; she was quite a surprise, especially since a Sharp-shinned Hawk had just left the same tree less than 10 minutes earlier. The weather was overcast, drizzling on & off, and a bit cool. She was quite interested in the homemade peanut suet, and stayed for several minutes, returning at least twice in the next hour. I've never seen one in our yard before, and have been unable to watch to see if she's been back since, but hope the menu suits her well enough to encourage her to stay a while - and maybe eventually bring a date! |
